Cameron and Lanning ready for Rose Bowl

Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit trump cards Jess Cameron and Meg Lanning will lead the Southern Stars batting line-up against traditional rivals New Zealand in the Rose Bowl series beginning in Sydney today.

The tournament will provide the Australian team with an invaluable hit-out against a quality opponent ahead of next year's World Cup in India which will be held from January 31.

Cameron and Lanning, ranked eighth and 10th in the world respectively, have been in career-best form in international cricket this year, Cameron having been named Player of the Final in the World Twenty20 decider in October and Lanning having scored a record five successive scores over 30 in the T20 format.

Lanning, who has also posted record WNCL and VWCA innings in the past month, says she is excited about the up-coming tournament.

"I'm really looking forward to it," Lanning said.

"I've had a good domestic season so far, as has the rest of the team, so we're really excited to be out there.

"I started off quite slowly I thought until I got to that innings of 175 which was pleasing for me.

"I'm really looking forward to playing well first up tomorrow and carrying that through the series.

"New Zealand is a great team and a really serious contender for the World Cup, so if we can get four wins and play some really good cricket that will give us some confidence."

Cricket Australia announced earlier today that it will live stream the Rose Bowl providing cricket fans with the perfect opportunity to view the series.

The Southern Stars take on New Zealand from 10am today.
