Lanning blazes another ton
Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit superstar Meg Lanning has blasted a sizzling hundred to cement her side Box Hill at the top of the Essteele Premier Firsts ladder at the weekend.
Up against last placed Dandenong, Lanning showed no mercy, smashing 116 not out from 73 deliveries to pass the Lions' moderate total of 141 in just the 21st over.
Lanning's first hundred in the VWCA this season included 17 fours and three sixes with the next highest scorer in the Box Hill innings being Kate Dempsey with 19 not out.
In the remaining VWCA round 12 clash, VicSpirit vice-captain Jess Cameron had a day out with an outstanding performance during Plenty Valley's big win over Brunswick Park.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Cameron immediately went into high gear putting on 169 with fellow opener Renee Melton (63) in quick time.
The loss of her opening partner didn't seem to phase the 22-year-old and she looked certain to reach triple figures before she was trapped LBW on 95.
Plenty Valley's total of 8-279 at the completion of their 50 overs proved to be too much despite a valiant run-a-ball 61 from VicSpirit captain Emma Inglis, the Parkers' collapsed to be all out for 105.
VicSpirit quick Kirsty Lamb was the chief destroyer with 2-27 from her seven overs.
