Megastar mauls Indians
Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit megastar Meg Lanning posted her highest one-day score with a majestic 128 for the Southern Stars in the second one-day international against India in Mumbai yesterday.
Lanning's second international century, which was the highest score by an Australian against India, was the backbone of the Southern Stars' total of 7-300.
She struck 19 boundaries and a six in an innings which lasted just 104 deliveries.
Lanning's VicSpirit teammate, Jess Cameron, also joined in the fun with a late cameo of 32 from 19 balls.
India struggled in reply with only two batters making double figures and was dismissed for 79 in the 28th over.
Victorian spearhead Julie Hunter opened the attack and bowled six tight overs for 21 before NSW Breakers pace bowler Ellyse Perry took 5-19 to finish the match.
After the game, Southern Stars captain Jodie Fields said the side had unfinished business.
"We've come here to win three-nil, there won't be any complacency," Fields said.
"We're coming out here Friday to try and obviously improve on what we've done today. I think there wasn't much that we did wrong today but there's always room for improvement; take more catches, bowl slightly better (and) score more runs."
The third and final one-day international will be played in Mumbai tomorrow.
