Mustangs and Bombers clash for T20 title

Box Hill and Essendon Maribyrnong Park will again do battle for the VWCA Essteele Premier Firsts Twenty20 Premiership next Saturday (25/2) at Greaves Reserve, Dandenong.

Having played off for both the Twenty20 title and the Premiership in 2010-11, Box Hill, who finished top of the ladder, will be looking to avenge the defeats of the past having gone down to the Bombers in the last two play offs.

The Mustangs' top order will be headed by the Lanning sisters, Meg and Anna.

Meg is coming off a brilliant performance in last weekend's Twenty20 against Dandenong where she hit an unbeaten 96 off just 65 balls.

The Southern Stars opening bat will captain the Mustangs, who are in search of the club's first Premier Firsts Premiership.

The nineteen-year-old Meg will lead a young and exciting team boasting the likes of Victorian Under-18 players Kate Dempsey, Sarah Chancellor-Goddard, Julia Crocket-Grills and Victorian Under-18 captain Anna.

EMP will be competing in the club's six consecutive Final, are on the rebound after suffering their first Twenty20 loss in four seasons at the hands of Brunswick Park last week.

Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit stars, led by all-rounder Emily McIntyre, will feature prominently in the Bomber line up with Briana Binch, Kristen Beams, Cassie Brock and Molly Strano all set to wear the red and black this weekend.

With club leader Clea Smith on the sidelines through injury, McIntyre will lead an EMP side determined to stamp their dominance on the shorter format and claim their fourth consecutive Twenty20 title.

The match will begin at 2.30pm and will follow the Premier Seconds Final between Napoleons/Sebastopol and Brighton District, which begins at 11am, at Greaves Reserve Dandenong.
