VicSpirit squad members push their claims

To top off a weekend where the Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit won all three matches against the Western Fury, the remaining squad members all put in good performances in round eight of VWCA Essteele Premier Firsts.

Molly Strano (53*) and Cassie Brock (39*) shared in an unbroken 113-run first-wicket partnership as Essendon Maribyrnong Park chased down Plenty Valley's total of 109 with ease.

Both players contributed with the ball with Strano taking 2-17 from eight overs while Brock claimed 0-26 from her allotment of 10 overs.

Victorian rookie Kirsty Lamb was Plenty Valley's highest scorer with 31.

In the round's other match, Kathleen Hempenstall led Brunswick Park to victory over Box Hill.

Hempenstall took two wickets, including English player Danni Wyatt for 15, in her 10 over spell then made 34 with the bat as Brunswick Park passed Box Hill's total of 129 with 15 deliveries left.

The Mustangs' Anna Lanning captured 1-25 with her seven overs while Wyatt will be a player to keep an eye on, bowling a 10 over spell and collecting the figures of 2-15.
