Villani to miss at least a month

Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit opening batter Elyse Villani will be out of action for at least a month after sustaining a hamstring injury in Sunday's 10-wicket defeat of Tasmanian Roar.

Villani suffered a grade two tear in the hamstring diving to make her ground in the fifth over.

VicSpirit physio Alesha Gledhill-Tunks says Villani's return will be determined by her rehabilitation.

"The best possible situation she will be back playing club cricket in four weeks," Gledhill-Tunks said.

"She will begin training next week, doing her own rehab, with her own running program and maybe a little batting and throwing."

The right hand batter, who made her international debut in 2009, has scored 91 runs so far this season including 38 from just 34 deliveries against the Western Fury on November 13.

She is still hopeful of getting back in the side before the business end of the season.

"I'm aiming to get back for the ACT matches at the MCG (on January 7-9)", Villani said.

The Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit take on arch-rival NSW Breakers this weekend in Blacktown.
