Applebee's standing in the VicSpirit squad is profound with the right-hand batter handed the captaincy of the WNCL side for the 2012-13 season.
A 110-game veteran with over 1800 runs to her name, Applebee made a successful comeback to the side last season after taking the previous year off.
She was rewarded for her fine early-season form with Dandenong with selection in the Victorian team for the opening match against Queensland Fire, and she repaid the faith of the selectors with a season-high 62 from 73 deliveries.
With the potential absence of Sarah Elliott for the majority of the season, Applebee is likely to play more of a role in the top order this season.
