The Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit play their final WNCL match ahead of the finals this weekend against rivals New South Wales at Manuka Oval.
The squad’s campaign has been up and down to date, beginning with three wins from three up in Brisbane followed by two narrow defeats at Junction Oval earlier this month.
Heading into the closing stages of the 20th WNCL season, the Spirit’s season is still alive and in their hands for a finals berth.
Coach David Hemp knows this weekend is crucial to keep the team in the hunt for the title, one which NSW has held for the last ten years but is being hotly contested this season.
“It’s all going to come down to us going to NSW and beating them,” said Hemp.
“There’s no easy game, all sides are capable of beating everybody.”
Despite recent losses, the VicSpirit sit just a point behind top of the table and are in a strong position to claim a spot in the finals.
However, sitting between South Australia and ACT in third position and on equal points, this weekend is a must win-game to do so.
Kathleen Hempenstall and Nicola Hancock come out of the squad leaving 12 travelling to the ACT to face NSW.
This weekend’s match begins on Sunday at 10am AEDT.
